The Language in The Gambia Virtual Reading Group is back and will have its seventh meeting Tuesday 7 June 5.00-6.30pm Gambian Time/6.00-7.30pm. We will resume our lively discussions with excerpts from a PhD concerning Gambian English:

Multilingual teaching resources: primary schools in The Gambia – ONE-WEEK WORKSHOP WITH TEACHERS

21-25 March 2022 @ Shelley’s Lodge Conference Room (Bijilo, The Gambia). Bespoke workshop with five teachers who received support in developing their own multilingual teaching aids (e.g. storybooks in several languages, multilingual posters, videos illustrating translanguaging pedagogical practices in classrooms) and in leading a one-day train the trainer event which occurred after the workshop [further details].

A sociolinguistic profile of The Gambia. Sociolinguistic Studies 3(3), pp.329-355. The Language in The Gambia Virtual Reading Group is a community of students, scholars and members of the general public interested in finding out more about how languages are used to communicate in The Gambia and the working of these languages.
